Chris Paul has been a major contributor to HBCU basketball since earning a degree from Winston-Salem State and starting the CP3 HBCU Classic.
Winston-Salem-born and Lewisville-raised Paul, who attended Wake Forest but earned a degree in mass communications from WSSU in 2022, told Hill that he intended to play only “At the most, a year. I just finished my 20th season, which is a blessing in itself. I’ve been in the NBA for more than half of my life, which is a blessing. But these years, you do not get back with your kids, with your family.”

Paul, a free agent, most recently played with the San Antonio Spurs. He has a career average of 18 points and 10 assists per game. He is second behind John Stockton on the NBA career assist leaderboard with 12,499. He is also second behind Stockton in career steals with 2,717.
