Morehouse College is hitting the reset button on its football program.
The school announced that Terance Mathis is out as head coach after two seasons.
“These moves are about shaping a bright and promising future for Morehouse Athletics,” Ellis said in a statement. “We’re focused on building a program where our student-athletes and staff can thrive, personally and professionally.”
In the meantime, Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator George Copeland is stepping in as interim head coach, and Football GM Allen Edwards will take on director of football operations duties to keep things running smoothly.
Ellis thanked both Mathis and Whitfield for their energy and commitment, adding that Morehouse is ready to “stay true to growth and improvement” as it begins a new chapter on the gridiron.
