Jackson State will once again be the center of the ESPN universe next month.
Jackson State University’s athletic department announced on Thursday that ESPN’s SportsCenter will broadcast live from inside the Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center at 1 p.m. (CT) on Monday, Feb. 2, launching the start of Black History Month with a campus celebration.
The special SportsCenter on Campus edition will feature Jackson State head men’s basketball coach Mo Williams, who will join the show for a live interview before squaring off in a free-throw shooting contest against award-winning Andscape senior writer and ESPN analyst David Dennis Jr.

The Sonic Boom of the South and band director Dr. Roderick Little will also appear during the broadcast, offering viewers a taste of Jackson State’s vibrant culture and rich tradition.
ESPN anchor Amina Smith will host the broadcast from the Lee E. Williams AAC and return for another live edition of SportsCenter at 4 p.m.
Students and fans are invited to attend the live taping, with doors opening at 12 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 12:15 p.m. to be part of the national broadcast of ESPN’s flagship sports news show.
The day’s festivities will culminate with the Jackson State men’s basketball matchup against Southern at 8 p.m.
Jackson State was previously featured on ESPN in 2022 as part of ESPN’s College GameDay, which was located at the site of the Jackson State-Southern football game.
