The 2024 Emmy Nominations are in, and there are plenty of people we will be rooting for to bring home some golden statuettes.
Donald Glover is back in the Emmy Award conversation even after his hit FX show, Atlanta, has ended. Thanks to his Amazon Prime project, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, the television series based on the 2005 film, the talented multi-hyphenate is up for two awards.
Glover is up for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series (with co-writer Francesca Sloane). His co-star, Maya Erskine, is also up for Oustanding Lead Actress in a Drama series. In total, Mr. and Mrs. Smith earned 16 nominations.
I May Destroy You star Michaela Coel is up for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for an appearance in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. In total, Mr. and Mrs. Smith earned 16 nominations.
The show is getting a second season, but Glover or Erskine will not return in the titular roles.
Idris Elba will compete against Glover in the Outstanding Lead Actor category for his hit AppleTV+ drama Hijack.
Abbott Elementary earned nine nominations. The comedy sitcom’s creator, Quinta Brunson, received two noms: Outstanding Lead Actress and Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

Her castmates Sheryl Lee Ralph, Janelle James, and Tyler James Williams have earned nominations as supporting actors and actresses in comedy series categories.
The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri joins Quinta Brunson in the Outstanding Lead Actress category.
Other nominations for the 2024 Apple Music Super Bowl Half-Time Show include Da’Vine Joy Randolph (Only Murders in the Building), Maya Rudolph (SNL, Loot), Lamorne Morris (Fargo), JAY-Z, and Usher.
Lilly Gladstone (Under The Bridge) and Kali Reis (True Detective: Night Country) made history by becoming the first Indigenous women nominated for acting.
