Norfolk State football gained a major addition from the transfer portal.
Wide receiver Brevin Caldwell, a two-time All-CIAA selection and two-time HBCU All-American from Johnson C. Smith University, announced his commitment to head coach Michael Vick’s program.
Caldwell, known for his explosive route running and reliable hands, emerged as one of Division II’s top receivers over the past two seasons.
At Johnson C. Smith, he eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards and became a focal point of the Golden Bulls’ offense. His blend of speed, physicality, and experience against elite HBCU competition makes him an immediate impact player.

Coach Vick, entering his second full offseason with the Spartans, has made talent acquisition through the portal a cornerstone of his rebuilding plan.
Caldwell’s commitment marks another HBCU-to-HBCU jump, particularly from the D2 level or Division I.
With Caldwell joining a young but promising receiving corps, expectations are high for the Spartans’ 2026 season as they aim to contend for their first conference title since 2011.
