Quite a few HBCU basketball teams of note will participate in a future Basketball Hall of Famer’s event.
The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Chris Paul Family Foundation have announced the field for the annual Chris Paul HBCU Classic, which will take place Dec. 18 and 19 at Gateway Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
Paul, who announced recently his 21st season would be his last in the NBA, earned a communications degree from Winston-Salem State in 2022.

Lincoln (Pa.) and Clark Atlanta will begin the festivities at 11 a.m., followed by Fayetteville State and Morehouse. Beginning at 5, SWAC runner-up Jackson State and Hampton will square off, followed by Grambling and defending MEAC champion Norfolk State at 7:30.
On the 19th, Lincoln and Morehouse will play, followed by Clark Atlanta and Fayetteville State, then Hampton vs. Grambling and Norfolk State/Jackson State to close out the event.

The HBCU Classic allows these players and their schools to receive their well-deserved recognition on a national platform,” Paul said in a statement. “I am grateful for the commitment that the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and our partners have shown in supporting the development of HBCU Basketball.”
