Florida State graduate assistant Ben Miles is expected to join Southern University’s staff as tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator under new head coach Marshall Faulk.
According to CBS Sports, the move marks a return to Baton Rouge for Miles, the son of former LSU head coach Les Miles, and adds another high-profile name to Faulk’s first staff on The Bluff.
Miles, who has been working at Florida State in a graduate assistant role, will take on his first full-time on-field position with the Jaguars.
In addition to coaching tight ends, he is expected to play a central role in shaping Southern’s overall recruiting strategy, a critical component as Faulk looks to elevate the program’s profile.
Before arriving at Florida State, Miles spent time at Texas A&M, where he began building his coaching résumé after his playing career. His experience at two major Power Four programs is expected to bolster Southern’s efforts on the field and on the recruiting trail.
The hire also carries local significance. Baton Rouge is familiar territory for the Miles family, with Les Miles having led LSU to a national championship and multiple SEC titles during his tenure.
Ben Miles now returns in a different capacity, tasked with helping Faulk establish a new era at Southern.
Southern officials have not formally announced the hire, but an official announcement is expected once final details are completed.
